Here lie the innards of six large pumpkins.

Yesterday I cleaned out six pumpkins for our Young Men/Young Women Halloween Party pumpkin carving contest.

She likes it!

Rice cereal, that is. We started on Tuesday. I was planning to wait until six months, but she looked at my food so longingly every time I ate, that I just couldn't hold out any longer!

Brooklyn was up to her old tricks taking out and replacing Olivia's pacifier. It was her favorite pass time while they were here...possibly bordering on obsessive. :) She could find a pacifier anywhere, and always brought it to Olivia (unless she was having a quick suck herself). I think they bonded.

It was so fun to have cousin time. Olivia was a fan. One day every time Brookie would so much as look at Olivia, Livi would burst out laughing. It was great!

Dzon!

Brooklyn fell in love with Jon one night. She ran to him crying after he went down in the basement to do something, and wouldn't let anyone else hold her. When Maria tried to feed her applesauce Brooklyn took it away from her and gave it to Jon so he could feed her. When Maria and Shane finally took Brooklyn up to bed, she cried "Dzon! Dzon! Dzon!" (Jon) the whole way up the stairs. Anyone who knows Brooklyn, and how reticent she is to go to anyone other than her mom or dad knows how amazing this is.

Happy Birthday Sarah! - "Presents of Mind" solicitation

I was thinking of another present I could give Sarah, and I thought to myself, "Self, when was the last time you wrote something on Sarah's blog?"

Well, today Sarah Lynn Leininger has completed another year of life. Falling in line with Haynie family tradition I'd like to leave Sarah a "Present of Mind." This year has been particularly meaningful to me because of the addition of a little baby to our lives. I feel that Sarah and I have grown closer than ever before because of the experiences we've had throughout the pregnancy, birth, and care of our little Olivia. There were many challenges that came with the pregnancy and we worked through them together. Sarah is patient and kind. I am a recipient of her love and sacrifice everyday. I love you honey!

Rollin', rollin', rollin'...

Olivia picked TODAY to roll over officially for the first time. We were hanging out doing some tummy time and suddenly, without warning, she just rolled over onto her back, like she had been doing it her whole life! She did it one more time when I put her back on her tummy, but every time I tried it after that, she just cried. She's been sick, and I think she was trying to say "I'm sick, and I'm tired, and I already got out of this awful position twice. Why do you keep putting me back here?" (She's never been the biggest fan of tummy time). At any rate, this photo was taken right before she rolled over. She's such a doll, and I love all her cuddly winter clothes.

I let Olivia taste an apple today. I feel quite certain that it just beat out baby tylenol for her favorite food ever.










PS Yesterday I picked up this beauty (the rocking horse, not the baby) at a consignment sale for 5 bucks. Can you beat that?

Conference Weekend

General Conference was so wonderful! I feel edified and exited. The one that really blew me away was Elder Holland's talk and testimony of the Book of Mormon. I also know that it is in fact, the word of God, and that, therefore, Joseph Smith is a true prophet and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's church on earth. I am grateful for that knowledge, and all else that it implies.

In addition to watching all four (five for Jon) sessions of Conference, we had all kinds of adventures this weekend. Lockheed Martin had a family day for employees and Olivia rode a pony and sat in a fire truck.

We also took a walk through the woods to a playground near our house, and Olivia played on all the equipment (with a little help).


Sunday night, our friends the O'Gormans came over and Olivia and her little friend Gianna got to play.
Today she is busy having fun with her new exersaucer. She's getting so strong!

Four Months (and counting)

I remember a little over a year ago writing a post about having been married for four months. Today, I'm writing about having a four month old daughter. As of today. She is a JOY! The last four months have been so great, I love being a mom, and my sweetie baby is as wonderful as can be. We went in for her four month check-up (shots...sad) and the doctor told me that she's perfect. I could have told him that without going in for a visit. He also told me that she's 13 lbs 14 oz, (in the 57th percentile for weight) and 26 inches long (97th percentile for height!). I don't know how she got so tall! Don't hate me, but she's been sleeping 10 hours through the night. I just know the next one is going to have chronic colic and be an insomniac (no next one on the way yet people).

Other than our baby, we are loving the recently arrived sweater weather! The leaves are starting to change...it's gonna be good! Also, I'm very excited for CONFERENCE tomorrow and Sunday. I'm thinking holding Livi might hinder my note taking, but I'll probably forgive her. Here's Olivia snoozing in a sweet sweater sleeper from her Grandma L.
